Renovating a heritage structure is a different discipline from new construction — you're negotiating with what already exists rather than designing from a blank slate. The Heritage Haveli Rework project taught us to survey structurally before designing aesthetically, preserve original jali work and stone detailing wherever structurally sound, and phase construction to protect load-bearing walls the new layout depends on.
